SERIES EVENT OF OIL AND GAS INTELLECTUAL PARADE 2012

1.    NATIONAL SEMINAR& OIL AND GAS EXHIBITION

     Asia Pacific  Oil and Gas Intellectual Parade 2012 is getting closer, and the beginning of this event will be started with a kind of National Seminar.  The  theme of the Seminar is “Sustainable energy for Sustainable future”. The Seminar  will discuss about the challenge of development energy in Indonesia from investment factor and rules made by Government of Indonesia. It is aimed to increase the knowledge of students and to find the solution from the current problems energy crisis. World oil demand is continuously being replaced by natural gas as alternative energy in fulfilling the world needs. Natural gas is a natural resource that consists of hydrocarbons (CnH2n+2) and the impurities such as N2, C02, and H2S. Many oil companies try to increase gas production to replace oil role while its production is decreasing. Also in Indonesia, many oil companies are trying to improve their gas production for fulfilling the energy demands in Indonesia.Indonesia is ranked seventh in world gas production, with proven reserves more than 112 TCF in year 2008.This rank eleventh largest in the world and the largest in Asia Pacific region. Gas reserves are equivalent to three times Indonesia's oil reserves and can supply the country for 50 years at current production rates. We realize that, energy needed will be increase day by day, so that we need to do something in order to fullfill enery demand for bright future.

     We also realize that the energy is not only oil and gas , but there are another option for the energy such as geothermal, CBM,shale gas , etc. Now days in indonesia the several potential energy that has just been mentioned before are still on process in developing. As we know, our country provide the largets potential of geothermal energy that can be exploitated with hi-tech utilities. This energy converted to electic energy to fullfil the public electricity demand  at the surrounding area of the field. While CBM its come from mining industry but the methode to produce it is simmilar to a general oil field. Commonlyif founded less than 500m of coal bed thickness, it will be CBM and if it more than 500 m, it will be  mining field that exploitating the coal first.

     Now the chalamge of the government is maintaining their potential energy to support the manufacture industries, making some job opportunities, and as the important-state sectorit control the economic stabilitation of the country.

     With Asia Pacific Oil and Gas Intellectual Parade 2012, we are trying to introduce more about energy, and understand how to manage our energy for our future. So that is why this National Seminar will talk about “Sustainable energy for Sustainable Future” hope this event will bring many benefits for all the participants.

     This event is the beginning from Asia Pacific Oil and Gas Intellectual Parade 2012, we will provide a good services for all the audiences in this event, with a culture performance from traditional dancing from Yogyakarta. This Event will be held on February 25th 2012, in Ambarrukmo Hotel Yogyakarta, Jl. Laksda Adisucipto 81, Yogyakarta Indonesia.

2.    GOLF MEET AND SHARE

     We relize that every professionals are very busy everyday to work and to do their responsibility in each Company, we already know that their burden is how their company can fullfill the energy demand of sociaty in Indonesia even in the World. Because of that, they dont have enough time to relax even to get Holiday. We belive that engineer or   professional also sometimes need relax and quality time to sport and enjoying their life without thinking their job for a moment.

     Asia Pasific Oil and Gas Intellectual Parade 2012 trying to help every professional to have Relax time,Holiday and Sport by Carry out “Golf Meet and Share”. This event will be held on 26th February 2012 in Merapi Golf Yogyakarta-Indonesia. 

3.    STUDENT COMPETITION

-          Welcome Party

Welcome Party is an event intended to welcome the participants of Intellectual Competition that consists of POD Competition, Smart Competition, and Paper Contest that will be continued with technical meeting about the rules of competitions. 

-          Smart Competition

Smart Competiton is a competition for students in Asia Pacific Region to do battle of brain in mastering the subjects and compete positively  related to petroleum and geothermal industry such as technical and non-technical matter. This competition is like “PETROBOWL” that one team is consist of 3 perons. The following phases in smart competition are elimination phase, semi final and final round.

-          Paper Contest

Paper competition is a competition for students in Asia Pacific Region where they can apply their theory in college. In this competiton students should make some research or study as an innovation related to the development of petroleum and geothermal  industry. The theme of paper contest is “A Movement For A Million Changes”.

-          Plan of Development Competition

Plan of Development Competition is oriented for students who are in faculty of mineral technology in Indonesia. This competition is the application of theory from many aspects such as geology, reservoir, drilling, and production that will be correlated with non-technical issue which is the economical point of view and government regulation. The integration of the subjects becomes the main key in processing available data to decide whether the field is proper to be developed or not. 

4.    SOCIAL ACTIVITY

Social activity is Planting 1000 trees around Merapi Mountain in Yogyakarta. The aims of planting 1000 trees are to keep the ecosystem around Merapi Mountain in Sleman Yogyakarta and to grow the empathy in Student Competition participants toward environment. Because we relize that enviroment is very important for sustainable life. 

5.    GATHERING

     Gathering consists of, Yogyakarta Culture Trip, Amazing race around Malioboro and student meeting. Yogyakarta Culture Trip is intended to introduce the culture of Yogyakarta and to tighten up the feeling of togetherness among Student Competition participants. Student Competition participants will be pleased in Cangkringan Merapi and Malioboro where those places are the destinations of tourism. Student Competition participants will also learn about geology at Mountain Merapi. One of the most essential activities in gathering is student meeting that will be attended by SC participants. There will be matters about petroleum industry discussed by all participants with the aim to find the solution. Students become a tangible actor in petroleum industry that make they are reliable in creating prosperity for society.

Modo and Modi was symbol of 26^th Sea Games that has been held in Indonesia on November 2011.

Now, we would like invite you to see the symbol of owl bird that show its charm in the biggest  Asia Pacific Intellectual Oil and Gas Parade which will be held by Student Board of Petroleum Engineering Student UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta.

An owl bird named OWL has been chosen as a mascot of OGIP in this year because an owl bird has its own philosophy that support theme of OGIP which is “"A Movement For A Million Changes".

Because of its quiet characteristic, has a sharp vision in the future and respect through environment, an owl bird has become symbol of knowledge, wisdom, loyalty and diligence.

So ladies and gentlemen, here is our mascot “OWL”, symbol of Organized-Wise-and-Loyal..

Asia Pacific Oil and Gas Intellectual Parade 2012 (OGIP 2012) is the sequel event from OGIP 2011 and Petronovoo 2010. 

Petronovoo 2010 is a greatest and biggest event that was held by the 2009-2010 Student Board of Petroleum Engineering Student UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta. "The Golden Moment for The Golden Future" was became the theme of this event.  

BP Migas and other companies took a part in supporting this event. There were seminars, competitions, job fair and gathering event. The competitions were student Paper Competition, Smart Competition, and Plan of Development Competition. 

The theme of the seminar was “Pemenuhan kebutuhan Sumber Daya Manusia Guna Menghadapi Krisis Energi nasional" which invited Karen Agustiawan as Head of Pertamina, R. Priono as Head of bpmigas,  Darwin Saleh as our Minister of ESDM and etc. The theme of job fair was "The Best Way For The Best Future" which gave people opportunities to enhance their carrier. Some Universities in Indonesia has participated in Petronovoo 2010. 

Asia Pacific Oil and Gas Intellectual 2011 was held by the 2010-2011 Student Board of Petroleum Engineering Student UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta which invited professional and students in Asia Pacific Region.  With theme "Jadi Tuan Rumah di Negeri Sendiri”, 

OGIP 2011 held several events such as : Gathering; P.O.D Competition; Paper Contest; Smart Competition; Talkshow Gas and Geothermal with the theme “Chance, Investment, Policy, and Challenge in Indonesia “ which invited DR. Ing. Evita H Legowo (Directorate of Oil and Gas), Ir. Galaila Karen Agustiawan ( Director of PT.Pertamina),etc ; Panel discussion which the topic “The role of government in regulating the energy of Oil, Gas, Geothermal, and Coal Bed Methane in Indonesia and The role of national and local oil, gas, and geothermal companies in creating the independency of energy in Indonesia” which invited DR. Ir. Bambang Setiawan (Directorate of Mineral, Coal and Geothermal), Ir. R.Priyono (Head of BPMIGAS),etc ; Job fair and exhibition; golf-meet and share.

On behalf of this success, we are as a petroleum engineering department UPN “Veteran“ Yogyakarta student board, we would try to hold a same event, the most prestigious event in 2012, this event is not just competition but also a way to gather all students related to petroleum industry in Asia Pacific region, sharing knowledge with all students in Asia Pacific Region and professionals in oil and gas industry, thinking about the better way to make a positive and innovative change and give great opportunity in pursuing career through oil and gas industry.

Oil and Gas Intellectual Parade - OGIP 2012

Oil and Gas Intellectual Parade is a program of Students Organization Unit of Petroleum Engineering Department UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta in cooperation with  some subject. Accord with it’s name, this activity is related to the parade of intellectual  that is oriented for students of petroleum engineering around Asia Pacific, general and professional in oil gas and geothermal industry, and society as general.

The pioner of this intellectual parade was begun two years ago named PETRONOVOO. In time there was a change of the name, the activity develop more so that Oil and Gas Intellectual Parade(OGIP) was born on 2011.

With the vision and mision that become better, this activity start to show it’s enchantment. Evidently on December 2010-March 2011, this activity had been succsessful attracted thousand of participants from among the student, professional, and public from all over Asia Pacific.

This year, the committee are proudly present:

Oil and Gas Intellectual Parade 2012 with theme "A Movement For A Million Changes". This activity will be showed its charm again on February 22th till March 4th 2012.

Oil and Gas Intellectual Parade 2012 consist of two great activities series, there are:

Pre-OGIP 2012, including Nasional Seminary

OGIP 2012, including Golf Meet & Share, Gathering, Social Activity, Exhibition, and

Competition: Paper Competition, Plan of Development Competition, Smart Competition.

A Movement For A Million Changes

The theme of this Oil and Gas Intellectual Parade 2012 related with the changing moment that warmly talked especially in youth. Thingking about the better way to make a positive and innovative change. Hopefully with the series of event may provide the place for students, professional, and society as general to discuss and to make a movement for million changes.

Preface From Chairman of OGIP 2012

OGIP 2012 is a program of Students Organization Unit of Petroleum Engineering Department UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta Indonesia. OGIP 2012 stands for Oil and Gas Intellectual Parade which means the event consist of series of activities that related to the parade of intellectual. OGIP 2012 is oriented for students of petroleum engineering around Asia Pacific, general and professional in oil gas and geothermal industry.  

 OGIP will be held from December 2011 until March 2012, during the period of times there will be a lot of events such as Pre-Student Competition, National Seminary about gas and geothermal, Oil Gas and Geothermal Field Study, Student Competition (Plan of Development Competition, Smart Competition, and Paper Contest), Gathering,Social activity and Job Fair. 

Within this letter of invitation, we as the commitees of OGIP 2012 proudly and humbly invite your University to join in our events which are  Intellectual Competition and Gathering. The competitions will be in form of Paper Contest, Smart Competition, and Plan of Development Competition.
